I will no longer be taking new patients. Please check back here for more information.

People enter therapy for various reasons, such as depression, feelings of “stuckness,” resentments that cannot be let go, overwhelming anxiety and inefficient coping mechanisms. A positive therapeutic experience can often lay a foundation that allows patients to live more effectively and freely in the world. I believe that all people have a desire to change and grow and that they possess the ability to do so. I enjoy patients who are curious and have a desire for increased insight.

My clinical interests and expertise includes the following, but is not limited to:

Mood and Anxiety Disorder

Post Partum Issues

Trauma and PTSD

Addiction and Dual-Diagnoses

Grief and Loss

Life Transitions

Sexual Conscerns

Parental Difficulties

Psychological Assessments Available

Intelligence Tests

Wechsler preschool and primary school of intelligence (WPPSI)-Measures verbal, nonverbal, working memory, processing speed of children from 4-7

Wechsler Intelligence scale for Children (WISC)-Measures verbal, fluid reasoning, spatial intelligence, working memory and processing speed 6-18

Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS)-Measures verbal, perceptual reasoning, working memory and processing speed 16+

Academic Tests

Wechsler Individual achievement test (WIAT)-In-depth examination of academic abilities; used when there is a concern of a specific learning disorder; measures many facets of academic functioning

Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT)– Quick screening of academic functioning-examines Reading, spelling, math computation, and reading comprehension-given in addition to an IQ test. Not as thorough as the WIAT

Attention Measures

Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA)– Continuous performance test that measures attention over a 20-minute time frame. Examines speed of responding, consistency in responding and omission and commission errors

Connors Tests- Measures subjective/objective symptoms of ADHD, such as memory, impulse control, inattention, and distraction; filled out by patient and by parent/teacher

Autism Diagnostics

Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) – The industry standard for diagnosing and assessing autism.

Dyslexia Measures

Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing (CTOPP)-Used to diagnose dyslexia. Measures use of phonics, understanding of phonics and how sounds fit together, and how to pronounce non-words, which is based on a solid understanding of phonics: used in conjunction with IQ, Academic, and Attention measures

Executive Functioning Measures

Delis-Kaplan Executive Functioning System (D-KEFS) – Measures higher order cognitive functions, such as cognitive flexibility, inhibition, impulse control, and organization

Emotional Functioning Measures

Beck Youth Inventory (BYI) – Measures depression, aggression, self-esteem, anxiety, and deviant behaviors in adolescents.

MMPI-A; MMPI-II; (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) – Not purchased yet. Measures personality traits and pathological personality difficulties in adolescents and adults.

Adaptive Scales

Vineland is an adaptive functioning scale. This is given when a low IQ is present (70 and below. This test shows what the person is capable of in terms of taking care of themselves and understanding different rules from life. It is given in conjunction with an IQ test

A general battery for ADHD would be TOVA, IQ, WRAT-5 and Connors (Maybe DKEFS if time)

A general battery for learning disability would TOVA, IQ, WIAT and Connors. If WIAT is deviant, patient is then given the CTOPP

Emotionally based diagnostic questions involve TOVA, IQ, Connors, BYI and if covered, MMPI

If cognitive functioning is the question, I would generally administer a TOVA, IQ and Vineland. Maybe Connors

I always give an IQ test; there is so much to glean from that data. Everything that has been purchased is the gold standard and the latest version and is administered by me in a face to face testing situation
